Gorges State Park is undergoing major
improvements to trails and facilities at the
Grassy Ridge Access.  This area will be closed
for visitor safety and parking along Hwy.  281

The Frozen Creek Access remains open for
hiking, picnicking, mountain biking and
horseback riding.
The current construction at Gorges State Park
is the first development phase of the park's
master plan.  About four miles of paved, loop
road will be built along with parking areas.
And, utility infrastructure will be put in place to
support future projects.

A visitor center, picnic areas, overlooks and
campgrounds are among the facilities included
in the master plan.  The construction is funded
through the N.C. Parks and Recreation Trust
Fund.
