Gorges State Park is
undergoing major
improvements to trails and
facilities at the Grassy
Ridge Access.  The access
from NC-281 opened in
spring 2009.
The Frozen Creek Access
remains open for hiking,
picnicking, mountain biking
and horseback riding.
Gorges State Park is the
first development phase of
the park's master plan.
About four miles of paved,
loop road have been built
along with parking areas.
put in place to support
future projects.

A visitor center, picnic
areas, overlooks and
campgrounds are among
the facilities included in the
master plan.  The
construction is funded
through the N.C. Parks and
Recreation Trust Fund.
